Project structure

WP1 Project Management & Coordination

The project will be realized in 6 WPs. WP1 ensures the successful financial & technical progress of the project by LP.

WP2 Project Communication & Dissemination

In WP2 a consolidated information and publicity campaign and targeted training actions will disseminate the project’s outputs with the active and joint participation of all PPs and the OP.

WP3 Infrastructure upgrading, operation and monitoring of CW performance

In WP3 two excising free surface flow (FSF) CWs at Ploutochori (CW1) and at Choletria (CW2) will be upgraded, operated and used as real scale laboratories.

WP4 Optimization and modeling of CW performance

The tasks of WP4 are all directed towards the development, testing and upgrading of a model that was developed by LP. The upgraded platform model will be adequate for predicting the performance of different CWs and based on that, dimensioning, operational parameters and efficiency of CWs at various conditions could be determined.

WP5 Management and exploitation of cropping and CW effluents

In WP5, the exploitation strategy of CW effluents and cropping will be studied. The exploitation of CW1 effluents will be evaluetaed for the irrigation of citrus trees and maize crops, in lab scale. In CW2 (not suitable land for crop cultivation) the establishment of an industrial forest, using effluents for the growth of 100-150 Paulownia tress will be assessed. Moreover cropping will be exploted for methane (energy) production via anaerobic digestion as well as for biofertilizer, via composting.

WP6 Feasibility study of CW technology application in Balcan/ Mediterranean rusal and peri-uban agglomerations

During WP6 demographic and meteorological data of BalkanMed countries will be collected, and recording of the current situation on the wastewater collection and treatment practices, in communities of less than 2,000 p.e will be carried out. Thus the applicability of the proposed technology not only in the countries participating in the project, but also in other BalkanMed countries that could benefit from the outputs of the DOMUS_CW will be assessed. Finally, a CW application guide will be developed.
